#12. Oh For the Love of Dog

Welcome to issue #12 of my letters! (You can read the others here.)

Every year sometime around now, we celebrate the emergence of Pacquito onto this planet. The above and the below are two of many drawings/paintings/portraits I've made of him. He is my unlikely muse, I guess you could say, and the object of all our affection. He is our little dumpster doggie, our Squirtleyburts, our Sweet Pateets! I become more obsessed with him as the years go on. Usually it's the other way around, I think, that we get too used to people and things as time passes, but the inherently short-ish lifespan of dogs lingers, reminding me in a different way than anything else, that our time together is limited.

Here's to 15-ish more!

As always, thank you for reading! <3

Pacquito by Number

4.5 pounds of fur and bones

3 teeth left

2 sets of eyedrops administered every evening

3-5 treats to get you to take your heart drops twice daily

22 hours of sleep in a 24-hour period

5-7 times a week you pee where you shouldn't

$300 (average) spent every time you have a checkup

8 people you feel comfortable enough to not run away from

52 stops you make to sprinkle or switch directions on any given walk

15 years of getting you to let us give you

100 kisses a day (at least)

Until next time-

<3 SBU
